GENERAL CONDITIONS OF PLAY

 

  1. Courtesy and co-operation shall apply in all interactions between golfers on the course and in the clubhouse and in particular with staff members of the host club.
  2. The registration desk will attempt to have all groups start in an orderly fashion. Members can assist greatly in this regard by being present and available well before tee off time.
  3. Members are encouraged to subscribe to the Miscore app for scoring at all fixtures.
  4. Cash is not accepted for payment of green fees. All members are required to register their credit/debit card for payment of green fees.
  5. Green fees are charged at the rate we are charged by the host club + a $1 credit card surcharge is added.
  6. When members are playing at their home club, they will not pay a green fee but will be charged a comp fee of $10
  7. All competitions are under the control of the Match Committee which reserves the right to change any date, cancel or vary any competition.
  8. Except under extraordinary circumstances approved by the Captain, no group shall consist of more than four players.

 

TIMESHEETS

  1. Timesheet bookings open at 7pm on Monday evening, 7 days in advance of the fixture.
  2. Timesheets close at 6pm on the evening before the fixture, normally a Sunday.
  3. Any cancellations after the timesheet is closed MUST be communicated to the Captain.

 

EXTREME WEATHER CONDITIONS

The committee urges all members to take care about playing in extreme weather conditions. Please take the time to familiarise yourself with the following Policy documents.

 

SEVERE WEATHER POLICY

Play will be SUSPENDED if there is a threat to player safety or course playability due to LIGHTNING, RAIN or WIND. The decision will be arrived at following the consultation with the Host Club of the day.

LIGHTNING:

  • Play will be SUSPENDED and communicated via the Host Clubs warning system.
  • On sounding of the warning system, ALL PLAYERS MUST IMMEDIATELY CEASE PLAY, mark their ball positions and return to the safety of the Clubhouse.
  • RESUMPTION OF PLAY will be signalled by the sounding of the Host Clubs warning system.
  • If the lightning threat persists to the point completion of play is deemed impossible due to fading light or at the discretion of the Club Captain or his delegate and after liaison with the Host Club, play will be

RAIN:

  • If greens become unplayable due to casual water around holes, play will be SUSPENDED communicated via the Host Clubs warning system.
  • On sounding of the warning system, ALL PLAYERS MUST IMMEDIATELY CEASE PLAY, mark their ball positions and either return to the Clubhouse or seek alternative shelter to await resumption of play.
  • RESUMPTION OF PLAY will be signalled using the Host Clubs warning system.
  • If flooding of greens persists to the point completion of play is deemed impossible due to fading light or at the discretion of the Club Captain or his delegate, play will be ABANDONED by the sounding of the Host Clubs warning system.

 

WIND:

  • If wind is blowing golf balls off greens, or is considered a danger to players due to its velocity therefore causing flying debris, or there is a risk of falling trees play will be SUSPENDED by the sounding of the Host Clubs warning system .
  • On sounding of the warning siren, ALL PLAYERS MUST IMMEDIATELY CEASE PLAY, mark their ball positions and return to the safety of the Clubhouse.
  • RESUMPTION OF PLAY will be signalled by the sounding of the Host Clubs warning system.
  • If the wind persists to the point completion of play is deemed impossible due to fading light or at the discretion of the Club Captain or his delegate, play will be ABANDONED by the sounding of the Host Clubs warning system.

 

HEAT or COLD:

  • Play will NOT BE SUSPENDED OR ABANDONED due to temperature levels.
  • It is recognized that individual players have varying levels of tolerance to temperature ranges. All players should accept and exercise PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY for their health/well-being when deciding to play, PARTICULARLY WITH REGARD TO THE FORECASTED OR PREVAILING TEMPERATURE. Players should ensure they wear appropriate clothing, comply with sun-smart behaviour and ensure adequate hydration through appropriate liquid intake.
  • IT IS A PERSONAL MATTER FOR EACH INDIVIDUAL TO DETERMINE WHETHER OR NOT THEY PLAY.

The committee of the Western Australian Veteran Golfers Association Inc facilitates golf activities at various golf clubs throughout the year and as such take no responsibility for personal and public liability. Participants of club events need to rely on the insurance cover offered by the club at which they are playing and if further detail of such cover is required the management of the particular club should be contacted.

 USE OF MOTORISED BUGGIES

Members wishing to utilise their own private ride on carts MUST obtain the host club’s permission for use prior to the day of the game and ensure they comply with all the club’s rules for their use.

LOCAL RULES

Members should read the local rules as printed on the host club score card and as displayed on the local rules board.

 

 TROPHY CLASSIFICATIONS

These may be varied for individual competitions. Handicaps will always be based on the Daily Handicap. Divisions, depending on numbers, will generally be:

3 Divisions 2 Divisions 1 Division
80 + players 50 – 79 players Less than 50 players
A Grade 0 – 13 A Grade 0 – 18 A Grade  0 – 36
B Grade 14 – 21 B Grade 19 – 36
C Grade 22 – 36

 

 

MEMBERSHIP

Applicants must:

  1. be a male or female amateur golfer and have an AGA handicap.
  2. be a financial and regular competition playing member of a WAGA affiliated metropolitan, suburban or country golf club, or a golf club approved by the WAVGA committee.
  3. have attained the age of 55 years.

 

COUNTBACK

Unless determined by the match committee prior to the event, a tie shall be decided by the AGU count back system.

 

ALL EVENTS ARE RESTRICTED TO MEMBERS AND SPECIAL GUESTS APPROVED BY THE CAPTAIN OR PRESIDENT
