MINUTES of meeting held at Royal Perth Golf Club on Tuesday 15th. September 2015
PRESENT: Garry Carter, Ron Cole, Mike Bemrose, Tony Farrow, Gordon Sherlock, Brian Munro, Colin Thorniley, David Scott, Stan Sexton, Peter Green
APOLOGIES: Stan Bird
MINUTES: of previous meeting held on 14/7/2015 confirmed and accepted
BUSINESS ARISING FROM MINUTES:
Kalgoorlie trip dates have changed to 14th & 15th October.
Two rounds for the club championships have been completed with a lot of good scores. Thanks to Gary Carter for his efforts in arranging and collecting all the prizes. Vice captains David &Stan and Ron all contributed to a big effort to finalise all the details for the presentation.
The ytd summary of green fees and the nett position after allowance for sponsors support and trophy costs was reviewed. It shows a loss of $2,500 ytd in total green fees paid of $57,000. When we add in sponsors and take out trophy and ball costs the nett loss is just over $6,000. This is still quite manageable as long as we maintain the current sponsorship level.

Since the last meeting we have played 9 games with sponsors available for 4 of these games.
It was agreed that Gary would set up Mike with access to the booking sheet to be able to book in sponsors as and when required.
Maylands golf shop ongoing sponsorship for next year is doubtful due to the likelihood of not retaining the lease for their shop at Maylands.
One of our current sponsors Colin Oliver, has requested we consider a game at Chequers for next year for which he would be the sponsor as this is his home course. Captain Gordon to consider in next years programme.
Stan Sexton has opened a dialogue with Troy O’Hern at Cottesloe Golf Club about a booking for next year. A figure of $60 has been indicated as our objective. Stan will continue to follow up and also make club rep Peter Stewart aware of his progress.
The basics for next year’s golf programme are due to be started although no confirmations will be available until early next year. Maylands golf course could be considered as a cheaper option but only if required to cover off a date as a last resort. We should continue to have our main objective of playing all the A grade courses.
Peter Green raised a number of points for us to consider with the aim of maintaining a close relationship with the country vets.
To date there are four country vets booked for the Kalgoorlie golf trip so good start.
The annual country vs city challenge for next year will be at Bunbury golf club on Monday 4th April
The following year for the city return we will need to make the travel requirement as minimal as possible with Pinjarra as the likely option. This should also suit a shot gun start with the timing to suit the country visitors. Catering prior to the game was not well done at Kwinana so would need to set something more specific up next time.
The option for a north west visit in conjunction with country vets was raised. This would be back to Geraldton & Dongara and maybe could be set up to alternate with Kalgoorlie.
Gary was also to load the 2015/ 16 country fixture list onto our website and we should encourage our members to look at playing any of these events. Where bookings are required Peter Green would be the contact.
The general issue of membership fees and green fees for next year was reviewed and agreed that it is likely we should lift the annual fee to $30 and keep our weekly green fee charge at $25 wherever possible. This will give us an extra $2000 insurance against a drop in sponsorship income. It also spreads the load over all members but benefits mostly the regular playing members each week.
The next meeting will look at other aspects of what we need to continue to do to maintain the interest in our golf package other than just the cost options. Shotgun starts, after golf catering etc should all be considered as part of our options.
There being no further business the meeting closed at 11.45 am.
The next meeting will be held on Tuesday 27th. October at 10.30am Royal Perth GC.
